Electronic Detection K9s Enzo & Grip Assist During Child Porn Arrest

Lake County Sheriff’s Detectives arrested a Waukegan man for possessing numerous images and videos of child pornography.

Lake County Sheriff’s Detectives and Lake County State’s Attorney Investigators initiated an investigation after they became aware child pornography was being shared from an electronic device in Waukegan.  Detectives learned the device was located at an apartment in the 2600 block of West Cornelia Avenue in Waukegan.

Detectives obtained a search warrant for the residence and conducted the search warrant yesterday, with the assistance Electronic Detection Sheriff’s K9 Enzo and State’s Attorney’s K9 Grip.  Electronic devices were located belonging to Michael A. Bray, 39, of the same address.  Detectives determined Bray was responsible for downloading and sharing child pornography of victims as young as toddlers.

After reviewing the facts and circumstances of the investigation the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office charged Bray with 10 counts of disseminating child sexual assault material (Class X Felonies).

Bray remains held in the Lake County Jail pending an initial court hearing this morning.  The State’s Attorney’s Office intends to file a petition to detain Bray in custody while he awaits trial.

Sheriff John D. Idleburg said, “Every image and video in cases like this represents the victimization and exploitation of a child.  Our Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force works tirelessly to identify those responsible, rescue victims, and ensure predators are held fully accountable for their actions.  We remain committed to protecting children in our communities and aggressively pursuing anyone who exploits them online”K9 Grip and K9 Enzo

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office thanks the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office, Illinois Attorney General’s Office, Waukegan Police Department, and Woodstock Police Department for their assistance in the investigation.

All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
