Health Centers in Santa Clara
In the county of Santa Clara, the health centers are extremely busy, and are relied upon by the community. However, these particular health facilities have been known not to deliver the best care to their patients. Therefore, county leaders want to shift things, and make a change for the community.
Therefore, they have introduced a new plan that will be taking effect within the near future. This plan is to re-develop an already existing clinic into a new Latino-centric health center. This is being done with the intent to protect the Latino community, and ensure they receive the upmost care they deserve.
Latino Health Center
Currently, the clinic is “East Valley Clinic.” However, this will soon change as Supervisor Cindy Chavez of Santa Clara will be introducing a Latino Health Center. This will provide better care especially for Spanish speakers. This comes as Latinos in Santa Clara are facing major disparities that call for immediate attention.
“Latinos in Silicon Valley are facing exacerbated quality of life challenges in the wake of the pandemic, including education gaps, worsening housing conditions and health disparities, according to the Hispanic Foundation of Silicon Valley’s 2023 Latino Report Card,” according to NBC Bay Area News.
There is a hope that this health center is the beginning of a much-needed change for the Latino community. There is also a hope that other counties and states across the nation can begin to develop things of the nature, because it is definitely needed nation-wide. Unfortunately, Santa Clara is not the only county that is having to deal with needs not being met for the Latino community.
The Future of This Center
This center is being backed by a large portion of the community in Santa Clara. They are excited for the change that is finally being enacted in the county of Santa Clara. However, there is a hope that the nation can see what this county is doing and can enact it in their legislation. This could potentially be the beginning of a much-needed change within the entire nation for the Latino community.
