Meeting Online, and the Risks
The internet is a place where there could be new friendships and relationships formed. However, there is always a risk that comes along with meeting someone from the internet. There have been several cases where people have been misled when it comes to meeting someone in person for the first time.
This has led to several kidnappings, carjackings, and even death. Therefore, it is always important for people to be cautious when it comes to meeting someone on the Internet. However, there are times when they are honest about who they are, and therefore, a great and honest friendship is formed. This was not the case.
Man Shot and Carjacked After Trying to Meet Woman In Person
A man had arrived at Planet Fitness, in hopes of being able to meet a woman that he had found online. However, this online meet-up turned deadly in seconds. “Police say they’re not sure if the woman ever showed up. However, there were three men who began arguing with the victim, then shot him and drove off in his car,” according to KSAT News. As aforementioned, it is still unknown if there was ever a woman in the vicinity. Many speculate that these three men posed as the woman, and therefore had deceived this man completely.
After the incident itself, the man had gone inside Planet Fitness and was asking the receptionists for help. “The victim went to a nearby Planet Fitness to ask for help. He was rushed to the hospital in critical condition,” according to News4sa.
Importance of Using Precaution When Meeting Someone In Person
It is without a doubt that after this disastrous event, many others will take caution before meeting someone in person.
The internet is a great way to make new friends and for new relationships to be born. However, caution and safety should always be a number one priority.
