ABC Fall 2026 Schedule Looks Promising… Or Does It?
The Autumn 2026 TV show schedule for ABC was recently released, yet despite the lack of any official statement, the online community is going wild after learning some surprising information about two shows scheduled to appear: the wildly popular series High Potential is set to move to mid-season, and the long-awaited return of Scrubs is going to receive a prime time slot.
High Potential, which quickly proved itself to be among the most successful ABC shows ever, due to its record high ratings throughout seasons, is not to make its debut in the autumn season but instead is to start in early January, sharing its timeslot with another crime procedural drama called Will Trent as well as the series The Rookie.
Scrubs, which received its second chance in spite of being cancelled previously some decades ago, is to receive its time slot at early ABC hours and will face competition from similar shows on Wednesdays.
‘High Potential’ Gets Benched Until Midseason
Among the most discussed topics surrounding the ABC press release is the series High Potential.
The show turned out to be quite popular on ABC, which had announced it earlier as the top entertainment broadcast series of 2025 for the demographic 18-49. However, it appears that the network has decided to delay its release plans to the fall and, instead, schedule the program during a busy midseason period alongside award ceremonies, football games, and other special events.
As per network executives, this change in scheduling will help minimize disruptions and long breaks between episodes, an area that had been pointed out by many fans throughout past seasons.
Interestingly, a few fans have also shown their agreement.
Online responses suggest that they do not mind a compacted and continuous airing process throughout the season without being interrupted with unexpected breaks every other week. Fans have often confessed that such disruptions were harmful to the pace of the show in the second season.
That said, not everyone is happy with the decision made by the network.
A fan has remarked, “They won’t be watching ABC until midseason.” Another one expressed disappointment in having to wait until 2027 for a series they had eagerly awaited on broadcast television.
ABC Is Betting Big on Nostalgia With ‘Scrubs’
While the High Potentials’ followers are worrying about their favorite show, those devoted to Scrubs feel happy enough about it.
The popular comedy series of the beginning of the 2000s returns and the thing that seems certain according to the reports is the treatment that the network will give this rebooted comedy series in the Fall 2026.
Thus, the new series will air each Wednesday at 8 p.m. and be followed by Abbott Elementary. According to some sources, this decision was done precisely in order to encourage the discussions on the Internet platforms.

Even more remarkable is the unprecedented strategy of ABC which decided to continue running all its TV series regardless of any cancellation policies that appear today as most of the networks as well as streaming companies tend to terminate TV shows regularly.
Undoubtedly, ABC will no longer stay passive in the competition.
On the contrary, it plans to create an impressive schedule of TV programs that can appeal to both adult and younger audiences alike. Popular TV series like Grey’s Anatomy and Scrubs can draw a lot of fans, but popular newcomer shows like High Potential, 9-1-1, and The Rookie continue to gain online popularity.
Fans Are Already Divided — Which Means ABC Wins
The internet reaction is exactly what ABC hoped for—nonstop discussion.
There are some who appreciate the change in the timetable, believing that a constant season will improve the quality of the story.
Then there are those who dislike that one of their favorite shows won’t return for another year.
Meanwhile, all the nostalgic buzz around Scrubs hasn’t even aired yet.
However, that’s exactly the point.
No matter whether fans appreciate the shake-up or not, ABC has done one thing that broadcast TV rarely does these days—it has sparked conversation about the timetable.
In light of the massive number of streaming sites and drop-offs, ABC has managed to bring excitement back into their TV programming.
For 2027, it might turn out to be the smartest move ABC could have made.
