Born and raised in the mean streets of Chicago, Illinois, Juan Batalla Aka Almighty Blessing launched his musical career over 7 years ago. While many upcoming artists’ sole focus is financial or popularity gain, this rapper took a different route establishing his sound in a form that reflects his city. Much of his music and activism comes from his past life experiences. His early years in music were mirrored by Chicago’s diverse culture. Blessing incorporates various genres and voices on to his music. Almighty Blessing’s music goes far beyond just rap. Blessing manages to blend multiple sounds like blues, gospel, hip-hop, and drill.
Almighty Blessing quickly establish himself not only as a creative lyricist but as an innovator. He quickly became known as one of the first artists in the Midwest to bring an “Oldies-style” vibe into his sound. Blessing loves blending old school sounds with modern hip-hop beats. Almighty Blessing is one of the first Mexican-American rappers to create what is now today Spanglish Drill Rap. Blessing mixes English and Spanish to representing his identity and resonating amongst diverse audiences.
Throughout his career, Almighty released a variety of tracks that highlights his versatility from uplifting songs to more personal ones. Some of his most notable tracks are Oldies, Stand Up and its sequel Stand Up II. Other noteworthy songs are Ghetto Cumbia, RedRum, Cease Fire, Sicario, and No Puedo Compartir. His contribution to the Adam Toledo campaign and his 48-hour Peace/No Violence challenge gained a historically amount of participation from the community. He successfully managed to shift the public’s focus in order to find real world solutions to violence and conflicts. He successfully accomplished to unify the community. Blessing hopes other artist can mirror his belief that artistic influence can go far beyond just popularity. He would like for real change to happen in people’s lives.
