Former President Bill Clinton refused to testify under subpoena on Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2026, in the congressional investigation into Jeffrey Epstein. Contempt of Congress charges are being brought forth by the House Republican leading the congressional investigation.
Chair of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, Rep. James Comer (R-Ky) is threatening to charge former Secretary of State Hilary Clinton with contempt if she does not appear before the congressional panel on Wednesday, as she has also refused to testify.
In July, the sub-panel on federal law enforcement for the Oversight Committee unanimously approved 10 subpoenas in the Epstein investigation, including both Clintons.
In a letter released on Tuesday, the Clintons tell Comer he is on the cusp f a process “literally designed to result in our imprisonment.”
Comer intends to begin proceedings for contempt of Congress next week. This could potentially start a politically messy and complicated process Congress rarely turns toward.
