After a second ICE-involved shooting took place in Minneapolis in a week, protesters took extreme action. Multiple vehicles driven by agents with the FBI and ICE were vandalized, broken into, and destroyed both inside and out.
Among the items seen across the street, a locked box and papers. The Federal Bureau of Investigation is offering a $100,000 reward to recover items taken from federal vehicles in Minneapolis.
FBI Response
FBI Director Kash Patel issued the reward offer on Thursday, Jan. 15, 2026 for “information leading to the recovery of stolen government property and/or the arrest of individuals responsible for the destruction and theft of government property in Minneapolis.”
Multiple vehicles driven by federal officers were left unattended when members of law enforcement clashed with protesters last night in Minneapolis. Videos show moments when the vehicles were vandalized and ransacked.
One video reportedly shows documents with details of federal operations in the Twin Cities. Another video shows a group of people using another vehicle to pull a locked box from a vehicle.
Patel released this statement on social media, “If you harm law enforcement or destroy/steal federal property this FBI will not hesitate to pursue you, find you, and bring you to the fullest extent of justice.” This statement followed the reward offer.
Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem stated she believed the vehicles vandalized belonged to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, not the Department of Homeland Security. The FBI was brought into to assist with the investigation after an ICE officer shot a man he was attempting to arrest.
