Former Lt. Governor Justin Fairfax Kills Wife and Himself
ANNANDALE, Va. – Virginia’s former Lt. Governor Justin Fairfax and his wife Cerina Fairfax were found dead yesterday morning by the police, who describe the case as a domestic murder suicide.
According to Fairfax County Police reports, the police received a call through 911 in the early hours of Thursday morning requesting help at the residence of Justin Fairfax and his wife in Annandale. The police found both of them with gunshot injuries.
Children Were At The Home
According to the police, both teenagers of the couple were also at the house during the shooting incident. One of the kids had actually called in for help. The kids were also fine and have now been moved into the care of their relatives.
Kevin Davis, Chief of Fairfax County Police Department, termed the situation as a consequence of an altercation in their house because of a difficult divorce process. As per the report, it came to light that the two people were divorced and were still living together as they were facing issues in court. It appears that Fairfax had got court papers just a few days prior to the hearing.
Prior Visit by Police
It was also reported that police had been called to attend an incident related to the family earlier this year. In this instance, Fairfax had alleged that he had been assaulted, but upon examination of the facts, including security camera footage, the accusation was found to be false.
Fairfax is a member of the Democratic Party and was Virginia’s lieutenant governor from 2018 until 2022. At one time, he was seen as a rising star in Virginia politics. However, all this changed when accusations surfaced against him for sexual assault in 2019, which he denied. Nonetheless, he continued to be a name in Virginia politics even after leaving his political position.
Cerina Fairfax was a dentist and entrepreneur.
