Mental Health
Mental health is an extremely important topic in today’s world. It is troubling that there are people that need help mentally, are being able to have access to guns. At any moment, they can explode, and can cause harm to others.
This is why gun restrictions need to be put in place, and tests need to be done to absolutely ensure that the owners of firearms are not putting anyone in any danger. However, this can be a very difficult task to accomplish. Unfortunately, there have been 7 people injured, including children, in a Nebraska home, after a man opened fire.
Information About the Incident
It seems that there were around 15 people that were present in the home and were presumed to be in the backyard when the shooting began. The suspect was 74-year-old Billy Booth, who was found dead after SWAT went into his home. Police assumed it was from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
This act seems that it may have been racially motivated, as months prior, Booth “flipped them off, told them to go back to where they came from and told them to speak English,” according to ABC News. It is clear that there was a large amount of hatred coming from Booth.
The adult victims were ranging from ages 22 to 43. The children were ranging from ages 3 to 10. Nebraska police have said that all victims are expected to survive.
The Future of This Incident
It is clear that this incident was racially motivated, and it does not seem anything had happened that may have enabled Booth to explode the way he did. However, the community and the nation is thankful that all victims of this senseless shooting are expected to survive but are still incredibly rattled that this happened whatsoever. There is a hope that the family can heal mentally from this tragedy.
