Mass Shootings
Mass shootings are not something to pass with little to no attention. These are instances that require the most amount of attention, and something to be done about it. Otherwise, things of this nature are going to continue happening, and more innocent lives will be taken as a result. Additionally, there are many times where gatherings are taking place, and shootings erupt in these areas.
These almost seem targeted, as they wait for a gathering where there is a large amount of people and decide to do the unthinkable. Something similar happened at a Detroit block party, where a shooting erupted and many were injured, and two were killed.
Detroit Block Party Massacre
There were many illegal block parties that were happening across Detroit over the 4th of July weekend. Most of these block parties also had incidents occur, but not as bad as the one that left 19 people injured and 2 killed as a result. Additionally, there were over 100 shell casings that were recovered from the scene.
“There were more than 100 shell casings found at the scene, according to White, and they recovered nine handguns. One of those had an illegal Glock switch, which essentially turns the pistol into an automatic weapon,” according to WXYZ 7 News. This raises the question, as to how these teenagers are able to get their hands on such weapons, and there clearly goes to show that something needs to be done to reduce the number of shootings across the nation.
The Future of Those Injured
Unfortunately, there were two teens who had lost their lives as a result of the shooting. There are other teens that are in temp-serious or stable conditions, which should hopefully indicate that they can make a recovery. One teen is currently in critical condition, and hopefully is able to make a full recovery.
