Many Women Accuse OBGYN Fabio Ortega of Sexual Abuse

Recently, about three hundred women in Chicago accused gynecologist Fabio Ortega of sexually abusing them. The ages of the victims range from 14 and up.

Trust Given to OBGYN Workers

There is a lot of trust being given to workers that deal with reproductive health, or health in general. OBGYN workers are expected to deliver upmost care to their patients, as every other doctor is expected of as well. OBGYN workers are given the opportunity to care for women in the most important moments of their lives.

However, there are unfortunately many women that are taken advantage of when in this predicament. This ruins the entire moment for them. Fabio Ortega is someone who took advantage of around 300 women while being an OBGYN. They all took it upon themselves to step up and address the fact that they were taken advantage of.

Fabio Ortega Sexually Assaulting Women

Ortega has worked in the hospital industry for decades now and has seen and heard everything. That is many women that he has had to encounter, and who may have unfortunately been affected negatively by him. It is also unfortunate that he was just found out about. A large amount of damage has already been done. He has hurt women in many ways and has affected one of the most important times of their lives. Furthermore, these allegations have stretched all the way back to the 1990’s, which is around 34 years of potential sexual assault.

Furthermore, he had used the expertise that he had in this field, to take advantage of these women. A lot of the women that had been under the care of Fabio Ortega, had no idea what gynecologists actually do. Therefore, they would follow through with what Fabio Ortega had told them to do, in which they did not realize they were taken advantage of.

There was a particular victim, who was named as ‘Jane Doe’ since she wanted to remain anonymous. She had mentioned that at first everything seemed normal, and things began to escalate the more that she visited Ortega. At the time, she was only 18 and did not speak English fluently whatsoever. Therefore, Ortega used this to take advantage of her. He asked her questions such as, “is your husband good in bed?” as well as to have an orgasm in his office, to which she immediately declined and never saw him again.

For another alleged victim, she mentions that “[Ortega inserted] his fingers into her vagina, comparing his fingers to the size of her husband’s penis,” according to NBC News. Therefore, it is obvious that he was trying to take advantage of these women. He took advantage of the fact that he was an OBGYN. These women did not understand the procedures Fabio Ortega was trying to accomplish.

Therefore, they took the safest path, and never saw him again after the encounters that they had with him. There are also other claims that victims knew the hospital had known about the sexual assault. However, they had done nothing to prevent or stop it.

Unfortunately, a lot of these victims decided to remain anonymous, as they did not want their children to hear about what they had to go through. They are afraid that their children will act with anger and hatred towards Fabio Ortega, especially after what he had done to them. They may also react with fear, and never get themselves checked for what they fear may happen to them. Therefore, there is a lot of negative that will surely arise if they were to find out what had happened.

How Did Ortega Plead?

Fabio Ortega had plead guilty to the counts of sexual assault, and 300 women had risen and shared their testimonies. This is 300 women who had their lives altered in an absolute negative way after the things he had done to them. The memories of what he had done to these women will forever haunt them, no matter how long Fabio Ortega gets in prison. Many wish that he had been caught way sooner, that way he could not harm the number of women that he did. Furthermore, many hope that the hospital is held responsible as well for the assault, as they may have known but done nothing.
