Chicago Neighborhoods
The unfortunate fact about certain Chicago neighborhoods, is that many of them are suffering with different problems. These problems range in severity. These issues can range from gun violence to low income, and many other different things. It is widely known that despite that, the sense of community between many Chicago neighborhoods is unlike any other. Many people come together despite these circumstances. However, there was a study that has gone out, that ranges different cities around the world as to how ‘cool’ they are. Hyde Park in Chicago has made it to the rankings.
Hyde Park
Hyde Park is a neighborhood in Chicago, and it comes as a surprise to many that it was ranked 19th for ‘coolest’ neighborhoods in the world. After a survey that was done, it takes into consideration several different factors before coming up with this type of decision. “Hyde Park ranks 19th among the coolest neighborhoods in the world, according to a new list of the globe’s 50 best,” according to Crain’s Chicago Business.
This neighborhood offers several different amazing amenities, which greatly influenced this decision. “Hyde Park exemplifies the best of Chicago, with the spirit of a small town, yet the many amenities of a bustling metropolis,” Hyde Park’s entry on the list said. “You can dine at the neighborhood’s top restaurants and enjoy everything from award-winning Southern fare and po’ boys to mouthwatering burgers and amazing Italian cuisine,” according to NBC 5 News. Therefore, because of these different characteristics, it ranked Hyde Park as Number 19 out of 40 neighborhoods that were in the ranking.
There Is Always Something To Do
Hyde Park is the perfect place for many people that love to explore. It seems that Hyde Park has a never-ending number of amenities and places to explore. This includes the Science and Industry Museum, several different shops and businesses and much more. “There’s plenty to do in Hyde Park as well. The sprawling Museum of Science and Industry offers a host of dazzling wonders that can take an entire day (or more) to explore, while Jackson Park boasts 551 acres of green space, a stunning Japanese Garden and art like Yoko Ono’s “Sky Landing” installation. And architecture lovers have historic landmarks, such as the Frederick C. Robie House designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, to check out. If that’s not still enough, take a walk down 53rd Street to shop at a variety of charming boutiques and locally-owned businesses,” according to Time Out.
Therefore, no matter the day or the occasion, there is always something to do in this neighborhood. However, this does not mean that this decision does not come with a shocker for many Chicagoans in the area. The thing about Chicago, is that many misinterpret the city for all the violence and crime that occurs. However, crime is not the only thing that is visible in the city. However, many are quick to generalize an entire neighborhood based on what they hear on the news.
The Future of Hyde Park
Hyde Park continues to strive to be a beautiful and bustling neighborhood. Since receiving this amazing statistic, they will surely continue to optimize the neighborhood in any way they can. Additionally, many people that live in this neighborhood may still be unaware that they live in one of the ‘coolest’ neighborhoods in the world.
However, the only thing is many hope that violence does not increase because of this statistic. If violence ends up increasing, this may surely decrease the ranking for Hyde Park. If violence does not increase, and Hyde Park continues adding amenities, it is possible for this neighborhood to continue increasing in the ranking. Only time will tell the future of this neighborhood.
