Iran Ceasefire Updates
The United States is expecting an answer from Iran with regards to the proposal made for a ceasefire arrangement aimed at de-escalating the tension that is rising in the Middle East, according to Marco Rubio, the Secretary of State.
As per Marco Rubio, the United States had offered a ceasefire deal coupled with negotiations, in return for which it is awaiting a response from Tehran. Rubio further added that a response from Iran can be expected soon.
It must be noted here that the current scenario comes amid conflict being witnessed in the region, where several military and naval confrontations have taken place in the region recently.
Ceasefire Proposal at the Center of Negotiations
According to the US government, this package represents a path towards stopping confrontation between them and avoiding military actions and paving the way for more talks. This involves ways of easing tensions around important waterways and terms for further talks regarding supervision of nuclear weapons.
He made it clear that this is a timely proposal that expects action from Iran before a particular period; otherwise, this will completely change the course of the whole diplomatic process.
Although there are no details as to what the proposal entails, it was said that this is a flexible pathway to de-escalation, but this puts pressure on Iran to start negotiating.
