Knicks End Cavs’ Sweep with Spectacular Performance in the NBA Finals 2026
The New York Knicks have booked themselves a place in their first-ever NBA Finals 2026 appearance in 27 years after posting a resounding 130-93 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers Monday night, thus completing a stunning sweep of the best-of-seven play-off series 4-0 against the Cleveland Cavaliers at Rocket Arena.
The triumph is the first time that the Knicks are heading into the NBA Finals 2026 since clinching the Eastern Conference title in 1999.
A Battle No One Predicted to Be a Blowout
A contest predicted to be one of the tightest in the playoffs turned out to be one of the most lopsided.

The Cavaliers were thought to be among the league’s most balanced teams heading into the Eastern Conference Finals, having achieved one of the best winning percentages and team compositions consisting of talent on all fronts.
The Knicks dominated the entire series without ever falling behind and handing any match up to their opponents.
Knicks Paced from the Start
From the outset, New York was able to establish its advantage by winning their two games at home before moving out to Cleveland to win their next two games.
The Knicks were in control of the pace of play since the team excelled in controlling the pace of play as well as the rebounds in addition to taking advantage of any mistakes in possession. On the side of the offense, the multi-faceted nature of the offense meant that it was impossible for the Cavaliers to focus on just one offensive play.
This was especially noticeable in the fourth game.
Statistics Emphasize New York’s Dominance
There is no doubt that New York’s dominance was clear when we looked at their scores in game 4.
New York scored 66 more points than the Cavaliers throughout the four games. Furthermore, New York won all of those games comfortably with a margin of more than 10 points. There were no signs of any struggle by New York during the conference finals; rather, they put on an outstanding show in the playoffs.

Finally, a breakthrough for New York after a long struggle with consistent performances in the playoffs!
Hard Off-Season Choices for the Cavaliers
With the fast finish of the season, several concerns arise as the season comes to an end for the team.
Before entering the playoffs, the Cavaliers were hopeful of winning a title with their amazing team, which belonged to one of the best in the Eastern Conference.
Although they had an excellent season, they were unable to make it through the conference finals and were eliminated prematurely.
Among other factors, the executives need to consider whether this team composition is adequate for the playoffs and whether they should add anything else to clinch a title.
Knicks’ Participation in NBA Finals Revives Long-Forgotten Memories
Knicks’ participation in the NBA Finals carries more weight than just being about basketball.
Over nearly three decades, Madison Square Garden has managed to remain one of the best places in sports despite a lack of success during the playoffs.
Currently, though, New York is on top when it comes to basketball.
It is another important time for a team that has had many struggles before entering the NBA Finals.
Four Wins in NBA History
Knicks are just four wins away from securing their very own NBA championship since 1973.
But more than that, what matters the most is that the Knicks enter the finals in good form following their victory against one of the best teams in the East.
It remains to be seen whether Knicks will actually lift the title or not. What is certain though is that Knicks have finally arrived at the finals despite their absence for years.
