“Extensive delays” are expected on suburban Metra trains in and out of Ogilvie Transportation Center on June 19, 2026, after an individual was struck by a train. Metra service alerts at 5:42 a.m. CT stated UPNW inbound and outbound trains remain halted near Palatine due to a “pedestrian incident,” according to NBC5 Chicago. Furthermore, the alert stated that a pedestrian had been struck by train 602.
The alert also stated that they expected major delays and encouraged passengers “to seek alternative transportation.
The incident involving the pedestrian occurred a little after 5 a.m. However, it is unclear what exactly happened.
Around 6:45 a.m. NBC5 traffic reporter Kye Martin posted on X, “UPDATE: IB trains @metraUPNW moving at restricted speeds – OB still not operating from Ogilvie, seek alt. Transportation out of Chicago.”
In a social media post, the village of Palatine said, “Due to the closure, access to and from Roselle Road is prohibited. East and Westbound traffic on Northwest Highway is open.”
Additionally, Palatine went on to say that drivers should expect major delays in the area and advised people to avoid the intersection.
