The best television show of all times is getting another shot at glory. NBC has decided to put their trust once again into The Rockford Files by launching its official remake, wherein David Boreanaz will be portraying the main character of the original television show written by James Garner.
There have been many reactions to this announcement in Hollywood, even from those who have been following the series since it began airing on TV during the seventies. The Rockford Files became known as one of the best crime shows ever aired because of its smart writing, realistic depiction of crimes committed, and, more importantly, the charming persona of its main character, Jim Rockford.
This isn’t the end of the tale, however.
David Boreanaz Takes on an Iconic TV Legacy
Given his experience from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, and SEAL Team, Boreanaz knows how to work on extended TV series and complex characters. Therefore, it is obvious that casting him as a new Jim Rockford makes this reboot one of the boldest TV dramas for NBC in recent years.
It is assumed that Boreanaz will demonstrate strength, compassion, and humor, which were so perfectly embodied by James Garner. Television show reboots have come to be one of the major trends in contemporary television business with different network channels seeking to take advantage of the fame of their iconic shows in order to capture both the attention of their own loyal followers and new audiences. It is thus not surprising that the decision by NBC to reboot The Rockford Files should be viewed from this perspective.

However, there is no doubt that reviving a character as legendary as Jim Rockford is indeed challenging. But with David Boreanaz taking up the baton, the revival itself has turned out to be one of the most awaited TV shows before even being aired!
