Toy Story 5 has hit the box office and has already made millions from previews, $17.5 million to be exact, according to Variety. With that is set to take multiplexes by storm, giving theaters one of the biggest openings of the year.
For 31 years, Buzz and Woody have been entertaining the masses, taking us to infinity and beyond. This latest installment into the franchise adds in a new aspect: technology. Now Buzz, Woody, and the rest of the gang have to figure out a way to stay relevant in Bonnie’s life. They don’t want to be forgotten or left behind as the new toy, the tablet, threatens to take over.
Toy Story 5‘s $17.5 million in previews is the highest preview performance of the year so far. The second best of the year is Michael, which made $12.6 million in previews. Furthermore, it is the second-best performance, falling behind 2018’s Incredibles 2, which made $18.5 million in previews.
Additionally, Michael made $97 million in its first weekend. This means that theoretically, Toy Story 5 could make more than that for its first weekend. The movie just opened in theaters today, June 19, and you can see it at your local cinema.
