Direct Diplomatic Appeal to Beijing
US President Donald Trump reportedly made it clear that he had personally asked China’s President Xi Jinping not to arm Iran amid escalating tensions in the Middle East region, along with increasing concerns regarding any possible support to Iran by any other nation with military supplies.
As reported by Trump, he reportedly made an effort to contact President Xi on a personal level, asking him not to supply any type of military aid to Iran. In reply, President Xi assured him that China is not associated with the issue in any manner.
Efforts to Curb Iran’s Military Access
In Trump’s view, this discussion was a part of diplomatic efforts to make sure that no more weapons would reach Iran. By not allowing Iran to obtain new weapons, according to Trump, the situation in the region would stabilize.
In Trump’s opinion, this discussion with President Xi Jinping is a part of broader efforts made on a global level to ensure peace and security through diplomacy.
Disputed Details and Lack of Confirmation
Furthermore, the ex-president accused Xi of having a positive reaction, stating that he confirmed that China had nothing to do with the shipment of weapons to Iran. However, there have been no proofs given either by the Chinese officials or international witnesses supporting the claims about the conversation and its content.
There has been no response from the Chinese government on these claims raised by the former US President, Donald Trump.

The above remarks are coming during a time that sees heightened levels of tensions between the world’s leading superpowers, the U.S. and Iran. It has become more aggressive toward Iran through diplomatic and military means on account of the country’s nuclear ambitions and other programs. Simultaneously, it is trying its best to reduce any foreign influence towards Iran.
According to analysts, it becomes all the more critical considering that of late China has become a prominent player in the region.

His followers argue that this is an instance of proactive diplomacy aimed at stopping any potential conflict from arising in the future. However, his opponents insist that there is no way of verifying the statements he has made.
